ICE Says Person Shot In Patterson Is Gang Member Wanted In El Salvador

Authorities from ICE have confirmed their officers shot a man in Patterson near Sperry Ave and I-5. According to their statement , Todd Lyons says they were attempting to arrest a gang member wanted in El Salvador.
ICE identified the suspect as Carlos Ivan Mendoza Hernandez. They say he is a member of the 18th Street Gang, which originated in Los Angeles. Hernandez is reportedly wanted in El Salvador for questioning in connection to a homicide. ICE officers shot Hernandez while attempting to arrest him in a “targeted vehicle stop.”
Lyons said in the statement:
“As officers approached the car, the wanted gang member weaponized his vehicle in an attempt to run an officer over…“Following their training, our officers fired defensive shots to protect themselves, their fellow agents, and the public.” #patterson #california #ice
