LA County Reports 1st Minor in America to Die From COVID-19

CALIFORNIA- Today officials from Los Angeles County reported the death of a minor due to the novel coronavirus- the first person under the age of 18 to die form COVID-19 in the United States. According to LA mayor Garcetti the victim was a teenager. No other information was given by LA County Public Health regarding the minor’s health situation or how they contracted the virus.

Statewide there are over 2,200 cases and at least 43 deaths as of today 3/24/2020.

There is currently a shelter in place order issued by the governor on March 19 to help avoid the spread of COVID-19. 

California county cases break down: 

Los Angeles: 536 cases, 8 deaths

San Francisco: 131 cases, 0 deaths

Santa Clara:  321 cases, 13 deaths

San Diego: 213 cases, 1 death 

San Mateo: 162 cases, 1 death 

Orange: 125 cases, 0 deaths
