Dameron Hospital adds nearly 500 jobs as their commitment to Stockton’s healthcare expands

STOCKTON — As hospitals across California confront financial pressures and staffing cuts, Dameron Hospital is reporting major investments in local jobs, advanced technology and specialized medical care.

Since American Advanced Management assumed operations in December 2024, Dameron reports adding 489 jobs, including more than 240 registered nurses. The hospital says its nursing workforce has grown by over 150%, while union positions have increased by approximately 270, nearly 80%.

The investments extend beyond staffing. Dameron has introduced a new cardiac catheterization laboratory, expanded stroke care through a collaboration with Stanford Hospital, and strengthened orthopedic services with the addition of spine specialist Dr. Jordan Green.

“Every nurse we add means more time at the bedside and safer care for our patients,” said Chief Nursing Officer Cassandra Lacondeguy, who also reported improved patient satisfaction.

Dameron’s growth follows an earlier period of workforce reductions and restructuring. Hospital leadership says its focus now is rebuilding and investing in sustainable services.

The expansion comes amid challenges elsewhere in Stockton healthcare. In August, it was reported that St. Joseph’s Medical Center eliminated multiple positions in layoffs amid financial pressures.

For Dameron, founded in 1912, the latest investments represent a promising chapter in its long history of serving Stockton families.
