LIVINGSTON- A sheriff deputy is recovering this morning after being shot after midnight. The department has released the following statement:
“ On December 18, 2019 at approximately midnight, the Merced County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 7000 block of Yamato Road for a disturbance. When the Deputy arrived on scene he was shot at and struck by an unknown caliber firearm. The Deputy received minor injuries and is expected to be fine. The Merced County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team and Investigations Bureau were called to the area and are in the beginning stages of the investigation.
This is an active crime scene and an on-going investigation. Please avoid the surrounding areas of Yamato Road due to several road closures. We will update you as information becomes available”.
