More Come Forward With Concerns About Racist Comedian at Che’roots

MODESTO- Since our story about an incident between comedian Anthony Krayenhagen and members of 209 Times at Che’roots in Modesto, more individuals have sent us details and receipts of the same experiences and concerns.

The individuals, who wish to remain unnamed, detail similar occurrences with Krayenhagen at other comedy businesses in Sacramento and Manteca where he is reportedly no longer allowed to enter.

According to the sources, those issues are mysogynistic disrespect towards women, inciteful racism, and alcohol use.

During the incident at Che’roots, Motecuzoma Sanchez who is a former Chicano Studies professor and Marine Corps veteran took issue with Krayenhagen over calling Mexican women slurs then demanding they “donate” cash to him after the show. At that point Sanchez spoke up for the women and told him to leave their area, which was not part of the “comedy show”, that he uses the business to occasionally host.

The comments to the women and members of 209 Times went beyond comedy and were antagonistic to the point onlookers feared a physical altercation was imminent.

To escalate things further, Krayenhagen then attacked Sanchez for being bi-racial (as were all the members of our team present) and launched into a hate fueled rant against white people, and Charlie Kirk.

“There’s a difference between talking sht and starting sht and this clown seemed to be inebriated and in his feelings to the point of picking a fight while being overtly racist. The irony is the owner of Che’roots, the bartender, his main comic, and even the flea bag dog were all white. In fact Krayenhagen is a white surname of German origin. Bottom line his behavior was out of line,” said Sanchez.

The owner, Gina Rossi, admitted Krayenhagen was “racist” and “appeared drunk”, but he was her longtime friend. She’s since doubled down her support of him and made public claims to have footage of the altercation that’ll exonerate him, but “can’t post it.” We think the public should see what she’s defending.

Others we spoke to have decided to no longer patronize her bar as a result.

“Racist hate doesn’t belong aywhere let alone a place as diverse as Modesto. If anyone is made to feel excluded from this business because of what Gina Rossi, allows, then no one should feel welcomed. We’ll take our money and time elsewhere,” said Sanchez.
