Governor Newsom Signs Bill to Allocate $50 Million to “Fight Trump”, Help Immigrants With Legal Services

Gavin Newsom signed legislation passed by the assembly and senate that allows millions of taxpayer dollars to used for immigration legal services and litigate moves by President Donald Trump.

$25 million will be set aside for the California Department of Justice to sue and fight the Trump administration in court.

Another $25 million will go to nonprofit organizations who are most likely loyal to the legislators that pushed the legislation through to provide legal and other support services to undocumented immigrants, dealing with immigration status, domestic violence, wage theft and eviction from their homes.

Newsom signed the legislation into law, but said he wants the Legislature in Sacramento to pass another bill promising that none of the money will be used to fight against the deportations of violent criminals and predators. The current legislation he signed does not have those guarantees.
