COMMUNITY ALERT Former Felon With Violent History and Current Criminal Case Plans to Run For Office in Stockton

STOCKTON- Armando Rodriguez has confirmed to us in an interview that he wants to run for state office. Rodriguez has been very busy in civic engagement lately, attending community meetings and claiming to a homeless advocate and lobbyist for state legislation amongst other things including running a nonprofit called Patience For Patients, which the Secretary of State website shows is suspended.

He has publicly admitted that he’s had a troubling past, but has turned his life. In an online post dedicated to convicted child molester (and former mayor Michael Tubbs’ right hand man) Sammy Nunez, he thanked him for his help.

He has announced connections to controversial city councilmember Brando Villapudua and Xochitl Paderes who currently is under several investigations, after being terminated by the State Assembly as Carlos Villapudua’s former district director after yet another investigation.

While we applaud Rodriguez’s public display of civic engagement, we do find it concerning that despite his claims, he is currently facing another criminal case for Domestic Violence against a woman from 2024. He has picked up multiple additional counts for allegedly violating the protective order in that case.

In 2012, he was arrested and jailed for refusing to take his tuberculosis medication, which got national attention. In 2016 he was in the news again when he tried to kill his own mother with a cord, but was stopped by her husband who arrived home as he was bashing her head into the ground. Charged with attempted murder, he was only sentenced to 3 years in a state hospital after he was found “incompetent to stand trial.”

He recently posted his criminal history of charges and convictions, but left out his current case. We have obtained an alleged photo of the damage done to the victim’s face. It is too graphic to post.

All his violent crimes appear to be against women.

People deserve second chances. People also deserve to know who they’re dealing with especially when they’re involved in public affairs.
