Mentally Ill Man Drowns In Stockton River While “Bathing”

STOCKTON- Stockton Police assisted the Stockton Fire Department at 1:15PM today in recovering the body of a man who drowned in the Calaveras River. The man, identified by relatives as Leroy Sauceda. He was having an episode of mental illness while visiting a close family member according to relatives who’ve reached out to us, which caused him to wander off into the area. Witnesses report seeing him appear to be bathing in the waters before falling in and being overcome by the swift current that is colder and stronger than usual due to run off from recent storms.
