STOCKTON- Today as Caltrans and the CHP were clearing out homeless encampments from underneath Stockton’s freeways, workers found something you don’t see everyday – a full house boat. Perhaps the homeless situation in Stockton, which has gotten worse under the leadership of Mayor Michael Tubbs and County Supervisor Kathy Miller, both who have championed the Homeless Task Force, is even worse than previously thought.
The danger is the risk such encampments pose to the structural integrity of the freeways like I-5 where they exist as noted by a statement from the CHP on their Stockton Facebook page:
“While assisting Caltrans with cleaning up multiple illegal encampments today, Stockton CHP located this under I-5 near Shimizu Dr. Seriously? Not only is this illegal but freeway infrastructure isn’t designed to dock house boats…#cmonman”
Despite bragging about receiving some $38,000,000 for the Homeless Task Force during their tenure, and staged photo ops of “homeless counts”, neither Tubbs nor Miller’s Partnership seems to have shown viable results.

Thats 50k a month that could be going toward dropping crime and low income/transitional housing

I know we have a problem with the homeless community but the government should have a program to send it to work at the field and know they valuable for the society
Some they have a mental problem and should be taking care but almost a 70% of the homeless community should be tag and send it to work like everybody-elf
They should be doing cleaning and the city rebuilding the city and pay them according to the salary like everybody-elf

I don’t understand why the homeless aren’t directed to the many levies Stockton has to set-up a campsite. Or maybe the city can donate a park just for the honeless. Is Dad’s Point still there? Something has to be done as the homeless doesn’t just include adults…..but also families with children. Find a area and give someone the charge in applying the rules, fire permits. All is more concerned on how awful the homeless camps are but nobody is offering real help. Is there any barren land someone can donate for this purpose? Yes, i agree they (some) are that way because of alcoholism. Don’t let them in or let them by signing a contract, no alcohol. It is terrible how the USA treats their homeless. Put your thinking caps on folks and come up with a plan that will work. I at one time was at the Food For Less off Wilson Way (I think?) And had family member with me. I said “oh God to beg for food is awful.” And i went into the store and bought a loaf of bread, bologne and some bananas. My passenger said they’ll take back in and get money for it. I said i have the receipt. We left the parking lot made another stop then I wet back to prove my passenger wrong. He family was sitting in a old car,three kids in the back seat and Mom and Dad in front. They were all eating. I wished at that time I could have done more. We are not here to judge, we are here to help our fellow man. God is our master of humanity. We cannot fail him. FYI people.

I remember seeing Stockton getting cleaned up (under a different mayor) and now donde Tubbs has won office, slowly that cleanup faded to even a worse eye sore….so if he got 38M….its DEF clear he didn’t use it for its actual purpose.
Depending on where they got the funding, I’m sure its public knowledge to demand to see where those funds were allocated.
Time to write, call or contact those agencies folks.

Mr.Tubbs your full of shit what a coincidence someone was there to take a picture of you kneeling down to a homeless person. Do right by the people and use that money to make a difference in Stockton because this city is truly suffering.
