Lincoln Unified sent out the following safety notice:

“Good Evening Families,

Today while two students were walking home from school in the area of Alexandria Place and Benjamin Holt Drive, they were approached by another student who tried to steal one of the student’s bicycles when it was briefly set down. The students engaged in a fight over the bicycle. An adult drove up, got out of the car with a gun, and pointed the gun at one of the students. A passerby alerted one of our schools to the incident, which allowed us to get Safety Officers, Stockton Police Department and administration involved. Thanks to the quick response by alert community members, our staff and law enforcement, the adult is in custody and the students are safe.

The safety of our students and staff members is of the highest importance to us. We are so grateful to the swift reaction of a community member who was able to alert us to the incident. Please remind your students to walk in groups and be alert to their surroundings. Report anything unusual to trusted adults. Please also be reminded of the importance of “see something, say something” and report observed incidents.

The police investigation is ongoing”.
