STOCKTON- Today Stockton PD announced the arrest of a suspect in the killing of 3 year old Melanie Martinez on September 25, 2016. Martinez was shot while sitting in the back seat of a car in south Stockton. SPD will Not release the identity of the individual despite being an adult because they say he was a minor at the time of the shooting:
“Throughout the course of this investigation, detectives identified at least one individual who fired a weapon that struck and killed Melanie Martinez.
On April 25, 2019, the Stockton Police Community Response Team arrested an 18-year-old male in connection with the shooting death of Melanie Martinez. He was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on murder and attempted murder charges.
The suspect was a juvenile at the time of this incident.
This is still an active and ongoing investigation.
