Stockton City Council Appoints Steve Colangelo as Interim City Manager

Mayor Christina Fugazi has appointed Steve Colangelo as Interim City Manager after a vote of approval by the City Council. She released the following statement:

“A lifelong Stockton resident with decades of business and
community leadership experience, Colangelo is a results-driven leader committed to making real
change.
“Steve isn’t a career bureaucrat, and that’s exactly why he’s the right choice for Stockton,” said
Mayor Fugazi. “His deep commitment to our city and proven leadership make him the best
person to take on this critical role.”
Colangelo previously led the revitalization of the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds, turning
around a struggling institution through decisive leadership and strategic improvements. His
ability to challenge the status quo and implement solutions helped secure the future of the
beloved San Joaquin Asparagus Festival, a key cultural and economic event for the region.
Beyond business and community development, Colangelo has been a strong supporter of public
safety, earning the respect of Stockton’s first responders. Devon Robson, President of the
Stockton Firefighters Association Local 456, stated: “Steve Colangelo has been a strong
advocate for public safety in Stockton and has always been a friend to Stockton Firefighters.”
As Interim City Manager, Colangelo will be directly accountable to the Mayor, City Council,
and, most importantly, the residents of Stockton. His priorities include:

  • Improving public safety in neighborhoods, streets, and parks.
  • Addressing homelessness with real, lasting solutions.
  • Driving economic development to create jobs and strengthen local businesses.
  • Expanding opportunities for youth to prevent violence and build a stronger future.
