Man Arrested for Shooting At Lodi PD is Marine Who Was Interviewed For Veterans History Project (Video)

LODI- On November 5, 2019 a man was shot by police after shooting at them upon their arrival to a call for service.

Per Lodi PD:

“The suspect in this case has been identified as Marco Kimo Aquino (37) of Scotts Valley. Aquino has been booked into the San Joaquin County Jail for attempted murder, assault on a peace officer with a deadly weapon, two counts of burglary, and several gun and drug related charges. The officer in this case has been with the Lodi Police Department for 17 months and is currently assigned to the patrol division. This remains an open investigation and more details will be released as they become available.

Details:

This morning at approximately 5:10 am, Lodi Police Officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 900 block of Industrial Way. The first officer to arrive on the scene encountered the suspect armed with a semi-automatic rifle and a semi-automatic handgun. Gunfire was exchanged between the suspect and the officer. The 37-year-old male suspect was shot multiple times. Officers were able to take the suspect into custody, and American Medical Response arrived to render medical aid. The suspect was transported to an area hospital where he is currently in stable condition and expected to survive. The officer was uninjured.

The shooting is being investigated by members of the Lodi Police Department Investigations Unit, members of the District Attorney’s Office and the California Department of Justice.”

Aquino is a Marine Corps veteran from Lathrop who served in Operation Enduring Freedom during his enlistment for the years 2000-2004. This interview was done as part Veterans History Project as submitted by Congressman Jerry McNerney.
