Controversy in Modesto Over $5 Million Promised to Improve South Side

MODESTO- Residents protested in South Modesto to call out State Senator Marie Alvarado-Gil over what they say is her attempts to take back the funding that she already helped secure for Stanislaus County. Documents show that the $5 million was already allocated to Stanislaus County for neighborhood improvements such as sidewalks, curbs, gutters and street lighting in a 88% Latino district of Modesto.

Stanislaus County Supervisor Channce Condit is leading the charge against the outrageous claims made by Senator Alvarado-Gil, who is claiming she unknowingly authorized the $5 million State budget item. Condit states that he is fully committed to keeping the money in Stanislaus County and will fight any threat or attempt made by Senator Alvarado-Gil or the State to wrongfully attempt to take it back. Senator Alvarado-Gil has fired back stating she’s asked the politically motivated, weak, pro criminal Attorney General Robert Bonta to “investigate”, but won’t say what there is to investigate. She’s just issued a statement saying she’s not sure if Condit “followed the process to request money from my office”. The money is not from her office. It’s from tax payers! It’s also not why she was saying when she was posing with Condit and a large check for publicity while announcing the award of the funding.

Currently, Stanislaus County has not been contacted by any state investigators or the Attorney General’s office as of yet.

In the meantime residents want action and answers.
