TRACY- Police have announced that the two men suspected of the smash and grab robbery from a Costco on May 7 have been arrested. Manteca resident Richard Hoffman, 28, was already in custody in the Santa Rita jail for possession of stolen goods and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Jeffrey Potter, 30, of Livermore was arrested on armed robbery and booked into the San Joaquin County jail.
The two men are suspected of walking into the Costco shortly before closing time wearing masks meant to stem the spread of COVID-19 coronavirus. After they smashed the glass cases, police say a gun was pulled on employee who pursued them to the parking lot to their getaway car. The value of the booty was $150,000.
