Cases of Coronavirus Confirmed At Safeway

TRACY- Sources who work at the distribution center for Safeway in Tracy has reported to us that 9 of there co workers have tested positive for COVID-19 and several more are being monitored. Today a spokesperson for Safeway confirmed there are in fact employees who have tested positive but gave no details as for as how many. They also announced they are barely trying to acquire masks to hand out to employees who are represented by teamsters local 439. The union has offered no statement either as to what measures they are taking to Procter their dues paying members. The distribution center handles all food and materials that are distributed to Safeway supermarkets throughout the region.

  1. I just purchased groceries at Safeway. Now you are saying I may have just infected my family with contaminated product ?

    1. Unlikely that your product would be contaminated.
      Most products are in cardboard cases, and the cases are then opened up by night crew, and then stocked to the shelf. Perishable items are similar, but are broken down by individual departments.
      Each store should be taking necessary precautions, since the virus can last on cardboard. But the ones who are at risk are the ones opening the boxes.

  2. My husband delivers to your distribution center. What department was the infected person working in. I need to know if he is in danger and my family as well.
