Stranger Approaching Students in Possible Kidnap Atttempts

CERES- This morning around 7:20AM near Magnolia and 10th St a student walking to school was approached by a male in a vehicle asking for directions to Ceres High School. As the student was providing directions the male tried to convince the student to get into his vehicle to show him where to go. Whike twh exchange was taking place the student pulled out their cell phone to call their parents which caused the male to flee.

Around the same time a second student also had a similar encounter on Whitmore Ave. near Ninth St. This time vehicle drove away when another vehicle pulled up.

The vehicle is described as a dark green or black 4 door car, possibly a Honda. The paint on the vehicle has possible sun damage and is peeling its paint. The male driver is described by police as “either Hispanic or Middle Eastern, late 20’s to early 30’s with a shaved head and stubble on his face”.

Police also say:

“A similar incident was reported to the Ceres Police Department on the morning of April 17th, 2019. In that incident, the driver was described as a Hispanic male in his 30’s with a beard wearing a baseball cap. The vehicle was described as an older green Honda 4 door with a Superman logo on the back window.

The Ceres Police Department has and will continue to increase patrols around the schools in the morning and afternoon hours. If anyone sees a vehicle matching the description around any of our schools, especially during the morning or afternoon hours when children are going to or coming from school, we ask that you report it by calling our department at (209) 538-5713”.
