3 Stockton Men Guilty of Kidnapping and Raping of UOP Student

STOCKTON- Three separate juries have found three suspects guilty in the June 2017 kidnapping and raping of a then 20 year old University of Pacific student who lived directly across the street from the University. After another failed robbery attempt, the three inviduals found the victim sitting in her car on Brubeck Way and forced her in the back at gun point. They then drove around for hours to Modesto then Tracy and back to Stockton where they dropped her off after taking turns repeatedly raping her. One of the perpetrators was even stupid enough to put his own contact information in the victim’s cell phone and follow her on social media. They now await sentencing and face from 100 to 175 years to life. The office of District Attorney Tori Verber Salazar released a statement detailing the verdict:

“People v. Deonte DeShaun Turner, Dayvonte Otis Brown, and Gilbert Pail Rizo. Over the past few days, ending today, three juries have returned verdicts in a three co-defendant sexual assault case.
The case stems from allegations that the defendants carjacked and kidnapped a 20 year-old female University of Pacific student on June 2, 2017 at approximately 10:30 p.m. After the defendants kidnapped the victim, they drove her around San Joaquin and Stanislaus Counties while sexually assaulting her.
Three separate juries were convened to hear the case simultaneously but all deliberated separately. This is usually done when evidence may only be introduced against one defendant and not others. Gilbert Pail Rizo: On February 14, 2019, the jury for Defendant Rizo found him guilty of Count#1: Carjacking, Count #2: Kidnapping, Count #9: Rape with an enhancement of Aggravated kidnapping, Count #10: Forcible Oral Copulation with an enhancement of Aggravated kidnapping, Count #11: Rape with an enhancement of Aggravated kidnapping, Count #13: Rape in-concert with an enhancement of Aggravated kidnapping,  Count #14: Forcible Oral Copulation with an enhancement of Aggravated kidnapping, Count #17: Criminal Threats and Count #18 Robbery. Mr. Rizo is looking at an exposure of 150 years to life. 
Dayvonte Otis Brown: On February 19, 2019, a jury found Defendant Brown guilty of Count #2: Kidnapping, Count #11: Rape with an enhancement of Aggravated kidnapping, Count #13: Rape in-concert with an enhancement of Aggravated kidnapping, Count #14: Forcible Oral Copulation with an enhancement of Aggravated kidnapping, Count #16: Rape with an enhancement of Aggravated kidnapping and Personally Armed with a Firearm, Count #17: Criminal Threats and Count # 18: Robbery. Mr. Brown is looking at an exposure of 100 years to life. 
Deonte DeShaun Turner: On February 19, 2019, a jury found Defendant Turner guilty of Count #1: Carjacking with an enhancement of personally armed, Count #2: Kidnapping with an enhancement of personally armed, Count #3: Sexual Penetration with an enhancement of personally armed, Count #4: Sexual Penetration with an enhancement of Aggravated kidnapping and Personally Armed with a Firearm, Count #5: Forcible Oral Copulation with an enhancement of Aggravated kidnapping and Personally Armed with a Firearm,  Count #6: Sexual  Rape with an enhancement of Aggravated kidnapping and Personally Armed with a Firearm, Count #9: Rape with an enhancement of Aggravated kidnapping, Count #10: Forcible Oral Copulation with an enhancement of Aggravated kidnapping, Count #11: Rape with an enhancement of Aggravated kidnapping, Count #13: Rape in-concert with an enhancement of Aggravated kidnapping,  Count #14: Forcible Oral Copulation with an enhancement of Aggravated kidnapping, Count #16: Rape with an enhancement of Aggravated kidnapping, Count #17: Criminal Threats and Count #18 Robbery. Mr. Turner is looking at an exposure of 175 years to life.
All three defendants will return on April 15, 2019 for sentencing.
This case was prosecuted by the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office’s Child Abuse & Sexual Assault Unit.”
